U.S. President’s Cup Team Chooses Cleats Over Spikeless Footwear

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Dec. 16, 2019 – The United States won The President’s Cup for the eighth-consecutive time over weekend, with 11 of the 12 players on the U.S. team choosing replaceable cleat technology over spikeless footwear. The 16-14 win for the U.S. team included eight of 12 singles points during the final day of competition.

“PGA Tour players take very seriously these team events and the opportunity to represent the United States,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “It is no surprise that for such an important event, all but one player on the winning team opted for the stability, traction and control provided by cleated footwear.”

On the professional tours, the winning tandem at the PGA Tour’s QBE Shootout also chose cleated footwear. One member of the winning team wore NIKE Air Max 1G footwear with replaceable cleats while the other chose FootJoy® shoes with Champ® replaceable metal spikes.

On the Asian Tour, the winner of the BNI Indonesian Masters wore FootJoy® footwear with Champ® Pivix replaceable cleats.

Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.

PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP® and Softspikes® brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.

CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.com and www.Softspikes.com.
